Origins of Blackjack
Blackjack was first played in France as early as the 1700s and originally called Vingt Et Un, (twenty-one). The popularity of Blackjack quickly spread to the rest of Europe and by the early 18th century the game had reached the USA. In the UK is a similar game called Pontoon but the name Blackjack originated from an early big payout hand which consisting of the ace of spades and the jack of clubs which was know as Blackjack. The name Blackjack may have stuck but unfortunately the improved payout for that hand has disappeared long ago.
Winning at Blackjack
The object of Blackjack is to achieve a higher point total than the dealer whilst not exceeding 21. The closer you get to 21 then the
better you chance of winning but if you score more that 21 you 'Bust'.
